Dr. Pazianas is a nephrologist by training. He has worked at the University of London (Charing Cross Hospital & Westminster Medical School — St George’s Hospital Medical School), the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Oxford, and is currently at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY, USA. Dr. Pazianas’ main interest is metabolic bone diseases, especially CKD-MBD and Osteoporosis, and his clinical work has been in collaboration with a wide spectrum of specialties that includes Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary, Gynecology, and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Pazianas published over 120 papers, including authoritative review articles and chapters. He is also co-author of a book entitled “Therapy of Osteoporosis”.
Dr. Pazianas has served as a Member of the Grant Review Committee of the NIH, as well as the Endocrinology / Bone Grant Review and Career Development Award Committees of the US Department of Veteran’s Affair’s Research Program.
Dr. Pazianas is also a reviewer for highly rated journals including Nature, the N Engl J Med, Proc Natl Acad of Sci, JAMA, BMJ, PLoS ONE, Blood, AJKD, JBMR, Bone, Calcif Tissue Int, and the Am J Physiol.
Currently, Dr. Pazianas is investigating the innovative use of Parathyroid Hormone in the management of Chronic Kidney Disease – Mineral & Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD). If successful, it could be a breakthrough approach in the clinical handling of this universal complication in CKD patients.
